Dinnerware Set Reflection (4-C) 4.12.13
1. I think the good or strong part of my set is that they all go together because they all have a rounded look. There aren't any sharp edges or anything, they all have the curved, round look.
2. I could've done better with keeping the theme really true throughout. I was planning on making all three pieces of the set on the wheel, but I didn't end up being able to.
3. My theme throughout the set is that all three pieces of my set are all round and circular, there aren't sharp edges or anything. Also my set will all be a matching blue and white. I chose that because the roundness just kind of happened and then I chose the color because it will match my mom's kitchen
4. I didn't really put a lot of details in my project because I wanted to keep it simple. Like the shapes of the set are all round and the colors are going to be a simple blue and white.
5. The symmetry of my set is bilateral, except for my bowl which can also be considered radial. I didn't exactly choose which symmetry to have, it just kind of happened because I made two out of the three on the potterywheel.
6. From this project I learned that time management is crucial and that you have to be prepared and have a plan B for when things that you didn't expect to happen actually happen. That can be applied to futrue clay projects and in life in general because it's just a general thing to have in mind.
7. First I had preliminary designs. I didn't really keep with the same designs, though I did keep the simple idea throughout. The first piece I made was my bowl which basically set the scale for everything else I had to make in the set. I made my cup next and I tried to make it to scale to the bowl so they'd go together good, and I made sure that the edges were round and cirucular. My plan for my plate was to make it on the wheel, but because of wheels, not being open on a lot of the days, I didn't get to so I made kind of an abstract plate thing by handbuilding it. I still kept the same roundness to it and everything, I just didn't get to make it on the wheel which I didn't exactly plan to happen.
8. I do think this was a worthwile project because I like how we're making things that we can actually use around the house and such and it kind of ties it in with real life things. Like in math people are always asking when we're ever going to use this in real life and in this project we actually made something for our "real life."
