clay vessel reflection (1-D) 1.24.13
1. The good part of my project is how smooth and clean it is because it looks very neat.
2. I could've done a better job at adding more pattern or rhythm because I left it kinda simple and it could've used more details.
3. My project is about the size of a grapefruit and it's form is kinda abstract. It's round but the top is pulled in and out randomly. I chose to do that because I liked how it looked and could be used to hold anything.
4. My vessel will hold mostly misc. items, possibly pens and pencils or that sort of thing because its a good size and height for those sorts of items.
5. I had repeating lines a lot. I focused more on rhythm because even though I used repeating lines, I didn't space them evenly on purpose because I like the abstract look it gave.
6. From this project I learned a lot about working with clay like wedging and the balance of water it needed. It could apply to other things in life because you first have to know the basics before you can really do something properly.
7. As I was first getting my clay and wedging it and stuff I thought over what my ideas had been for my preliminaries and got an idea in my head of how I wanted it to look. Then as I was shaping and working with the clay my ideas changed and my plan was totally different and I really like how it turned out.
8. I think this is a good first project for clay because it's simple enough to be able to learn the basics of working with clay and still make something useful and interesting.
